How to REPLACE faces with AutoDesk Inventor - part 2

Hiya & welcome back to our series about how to manipulate faces using AutoDesk Inventor. As you may recall if you read my previous post about this, I am responding to a frustrated AutoCAD user on the topic of moving and replacing faces. Yesterday I posted a video about how to move faces, using the Move Face tool. Today, I've posted a video about how to use the REPLACE faces tool. Enjoy and have a super weekend. Here all the snow should melt over the weekend, with a high of 18C on Sat!!

How to MOVE a face using AutoDesk Inventor - Q&A from a frustrated AutoCAD user...

I get quite a few questions from unhappy AutoCAD users trying to transition to Inventor. The thing is, if you're used to AutoCAD it's so seamless and fast that moving to a parametric modeller, which is more sort of rigid in the process of modeling a solid, will feel very very annoying. Until you get used to the tools and how to use them.

"In AutoCAD it's easy for me to move a face, and replace it. How can I do that with Inventor? It doesn't seem that there's an easy way to, for example, adjust a face around an axis or plane, or a point. Can you let me know how to do it?"

Make sure you pull up the Modify panel; that's where the Move Faces tool is located.

I'll publish an HTML file / PDF version of this video shortly, in case you prefer to read about it rather than watch an Inventor tutorials video!

How to extrude slots on a cylindrical surface? SolidWorks Tutorials - your questions & our answers!

Everyone, thanks for your patience during our migriation! A customer was having some problems extruding slots on a cylindrical rod; here's a video showing what to do. I'll post an html or pdf file in a couple days.

Here's the question: "I'm trying to project several slots on a round rod. I cannot figure out how to do it.  I've set up two planes. I drew 2 arcs, in separate sketches, then converted to 3D sketches. But I still can't extrude. Help!"  Yes, I can help!

Moving servers tonight...offline for the next 6-12 hours.

Hi everyone, so sorry about all this downtime! We've been really butting heads with our host; we'd moved to a new "faster" server that has given us a real headache since mid-Dec, and now they are moving us to a new box, starting tonight. It's supposed to take 12 hours, but hopefully it will be less! Our fingers are crossed, and sorry for the downtime. We hope this will end our hosting problems and get us back where we belong!! Please look for us on Amazon and Ebay in the meantime...

New site out, but there is a bluehost outage!

Hi everyone;
So sorry to report there is a massive outage in the frozen farms of BlueHost in the mid-west USA, and our new website has been offline for the last couple hours!! We don't have any timeline for resolution yet, but this is a major provider and they are doing their best to get back online asap. So sorry for the inconvenience.  Send us some feedback on the new site, too; we're busy tweaking!

Kind regards, and best wishes for a happy new year to you and yours.
